…the world saw the release of Pinocchio, which remains, in my estimation, the crown jewel of Disney Animation and the best animated movie ever made. Here’s what I had to say about it a couple years ago. I hope you enjoy.

Pinocchio I appreciate now as an adult but the Pleasure Island sequences were too scary for me as a kid. It’s pretty twisted stuff and the weird part is there is no punishment or retribution to the Coachman. I guess they are just donkeys forever. Pinocchio is a morality tale like an Wagner opera. Pinocchio is presented with temptation after temptation with the grand lesson that sin is wrong and will make you miserable. It tells that kind of story about as well as you could tell it.
The animation is stunning and like I said I like it as an adult. The music is wonderful and it is strange world. Like for instance there is a anthropomorphic cat Gideon and yet a regular cat Figero. Pinocchio can also walk under water and yet is drowned in another scene. All of that has become part of its charm. It’s what makes it different and unique and extra special.
